Opened in 1824, the restaurant became very well known in the early ‘900. In 1909 it was completely renovated in neo-Gothic style. In 1916 Carlo Coppedé painted the lunettes inspired by the Decameron, and in 1919 Galileo Chini frescoed the “Saletta of roses.” Are also noteworthy the Cantagalli ceramics, with coats of arms of Tuscan towns.

In 1951 G. Pini restored the local to the splendors of the past, with new frescoes of Annigoni and Guarnieri. Historic meeting place of intellectuals (Leoncavallo, Puccini, Marinetti), the restaurant preserves the traditions of Tuscan cuisine.
